About
I came to ceramics through art therapy while navigating a divorce. Until then, I hadn’t made much room for creativity without a goal. For experimenting, following an idea, and making something simply because I wanted to. I tried several mediums before finding my way to clay.
I primarily handbuild, taking inspiration from the natural world: the curves of the human body, the shapes of leaves, and the structures of plants. Occasionally I make something purely sculptural, but I’m most drawn to functional art. I like making objects that become part of someone’s daily life—pieces to use, handle, and enjoy.
My process brings together handwork and technology. I use 3D printing to create custom cutters, forms, and molds, then carve, shape, and assemble the clay by hand. Designing the tools has become part of the creative process itself, opening up forms and possibilities I might not otherwise have explored.
That freedom is part of what keeps me coming back: having an idea, figuring out how to make it, and seeing what the clay has to say about it.
